The Relationship

This idea started on December 6, 2006. Any things that the trio have said concerning their relationship with one another will go down in this section. So from now on, you will have an updated status on their growing relationship.

Emma talks about Dan and Rupert.

"And Dan, Rupert, and I have more of less grown up together, so of course we're very close. There are definitely elements of his personality that are very desirable. I can talk to him for hours. He's very witty and intelligent, and says what he thinks. He's an interesting guy - even if he did look at me like I had three heads when I told him I didn't know who Gary Oldman was . But a crush on Dan? No. Never."

It has now been more than 6 years that you know each other. Can you still stand each other?

Emma: [laughs] I must admit I find it hard sometimes! no, I am joking, of course…. Our friendship is not fake, and today I kind of consider Rupert and Daniel [Radcliffe] like my brothers. For 6 years, we have seen each other nearly everyday and we have learned to know each other very well. Rupert and Daniel have a big place in my life. We have been there for each other during the bad times on set, and we also have shared lots of fabulous experiences together.

Rupert: I also consider Emma like a member of my family. A lot of people are surprised that we don’t see each other much when we are not filming. But you have to understand that we see each other all day almost everyday. if we were together 24/7 we couldn’t stand each other anymore! [laughs]

I assume you didn't know each other before this whole thing started, but what are the one or two things you've learned from each other?

Emma: What we've learned from each other?

Dan: I've learned I want an ice cream van!... I don't know... these guys have probably learned nothing but trivia from me... to be honest, because we're all pretty much the same age I don't think we've ever given each other advice. It would be very odd for me to, say, turn around to Rupert and say "Rupert... now then..." because we're all the same age and I think that's something you get from people who are older than you really...

Emma: I don't think we learned anything... it's more like... we're friends, you know, like... you know, if I'm having boy troubles I'll occasionally go and track Dan or Rupert and say "What's going on here... I don't understand!" and...

Dan: Don't ask what she means by 'boy troubles'!

Emma: Yeah... just sort of friendly banter and friendly advice and just... you know, just generally supporting each other. Sorry... I can't, you know, give a very deep answer... (laughs) it just doesn't exist!

Dan: Basically, what she's trying to say is...

Trio: We've learned nothing from each other! (much laughter)...

Do you think Ron will ever hook up with Hermione?

"There are rumors going around, especially about the seventh book and what's going to happen between them. I don't know. It would be quite weird, actually. I'm not sure I'd be looking forward to it. Emma Watson's like a little sister to me. We've known each other for six years! It would feel kind of strange. "

How would you describe each other? What are each of your special characteristics? Emma, go first. Tell us about Rupert.

Emma: Rupert has a very good sense of humor, and he's our teacher on the set. He's also very excited about his mobile phone. He loves his mobile. He picks up the phone like, "Oh, somebody loves me!" And Rupert says, "Bet it's the wrong number." He's so witty and fast.

OK, Rupert, tell me about Emma.

Rupert: She's really clever.
Daniel: Yes!
Rupert: Really clever, and she's got a good sense of humor. If we pull a prank on her, she might cut us off.
Daniel: She'll just hurt us. (More laughter)
