The Chamber of Secrets
Mistakes
When in the Whomping Willow, Ron asks, "What's happening?" and Harry replies, "I
don't know." After a few other shots, in the next two front close-ups of the
boys as they scream, Harry, Ron and Hedwig are not alone in the car. A crew
member's HAND is quite visible holding the bottom of Hedwig's cage and in the
2nd close-up is actually laying the cage on its side!!
Rushing to make Hogwarts Express at the train station, the shot opens as the
camera pans Ginny's trunk and TWO marks come into view. While Ginny and Mr.
Weasley push her trolley, Mr. Weasley (Mark Williams) is cued and begins to say,
"10:58, come on, come on!" just as the actor hits his tape MARK on the ground
below, while Percy's (Chris Rankin) trolley hits its tape mark, so Harry is
visible behind him, and cues Mr. Weasley to continue speaking. In the shot when
Mrs. Weasley says, "Okay" for Ginny to go and in the shot as Harry says, "Let's
go," their marks are obviously gone.
Harry and Ron's trunks are being thrown out of the car and in the shot just
before Harry's close-up, Ron's trunk (the other trunk says HP) slams down on the
grass. The top of this trunk has a large perfectly symmetrical hole in the
center with four round marks around it, which was probably involved in the
throwing somehow. In the wide shot as Hedwig is being tossed out, the trunks are
clearly visible and there is no hole in either, nor is there a hole in Ron's
trunk at any other time.
When Lockhart falls down the hole into the Chamber of Secrets, we hear him hit
the ground a second or two later. When Ron and Harry jump down, not only do they
take longer to get down, they also slide down the pipe, rather than fall
straight down.
In the Quidditch scene, Harry breaks his right arm and cradles it on his chest,
but when he is laying on the ground after he falls off his broom, he then leans
directly on it when he sits up to get away from the Bludger. In the shot
immediately afterward, he has his hand cradled in front of him again.
As Harry climbs the Salazar Slytherine stone head's locks of hair, the Basilisk
crashes his face and creates the first immense hole. As Harry tries to climb
higher, it pounds into the stone again creating another huge hole, higher up on
another lock of hair, to Harry's left as he hangs on. However, when the Basilisk
smashes his face into the stone a third time, as Harry nears the top, the second
huge hole is GONE, in this shot and in the first wide shot in which Tom Riddle
is visible.
When Ron says, "Oh no! The invisibility booster must be faulty," the wipers are
shiny chrome, as is the base of the center button between them. When Harry says,
"We need to find the train," in the shot of Ron and Harry as the car begins to
descend, the shiny chrome of the windshield wipers is GONE. In the Whomping
Willow, Ron says, "My wand. Look..." the wipers and the base of the center
button are all matte black now. After the tree smashes the windshield, in the
next exterior shot, as the camera pans out while the boys scream, the front blue
hood of car is seen and the entire wiper is GONE, whereas in the following shot
the wiper is back. When the tree comes through the back window, in the front
shots, the hood is seen again and the windshield wipers are GONE again.
After ejecting Harry, Ron, Hedwig, Scabbers and all their belongings out of the
car, just before Ron's door slams shut, the metal rod attached to the bottom of
the door to pull it closed is visible.
Just arriving at Diagon Alley Hagrid says, "I was looking for Flesh-Eating Slug
Repellent. They're ruining all the school cabbages." In the next shot Hermione
exits the shop and runs towards Harry. On the ground is Dan Radcliffe's (Harry)
red mark, which he promptly steps on just before Emma Watson (Hermoine) glances
down and steps on her own black tape mark.
When Harry and Ron run at the wall to get to Platform 9 3/4 if you watch
Hedwig's cage when they tumble over you can see a toy bird that is glued onto
the perch.
As Ron's luggage cart/trolley slams into Harry's, Ron's trunk is visible. As Ron
begins to flip over in the overhead shot, the trunk has five strips of brown
trim - two on the edges and three in the middle. When Harry and Ron moan and get
up, Ron's trunk now has four strips of brown trim - two on the edges and two in
the middle.
